Cena vs. Punk — Final Boss vs. Voice of the Voiceless
John Cena kicked things off with energy, stepping into the Phoenix ring wearing purple‑and‑orange gear in honor of the Suns. Declaring himself “the last real champion,” he blasted fans for cheering R‑Truth, calling it “keyboard warrior” behavior and a distraction from real contenders.
Enter CM Punk, who fired back: Cena was the “final boss” champion favored by the establishment, while Punk represented the people.
Punk’s Mic Bomb: “That title has corrupted you… I have to become a monster to stop the monster… That title belongs to the people!”
Saudi Showdown: Cena accepted Punk’s challenge – but only at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia on June 28. Punk’s off-mic “You’re on” sealed their Undisputed WWE Title clash, a stark contrast to his past Saudi criticism. Seth Rollins then appeared, briefcase in hand, reminding everyone he’s the ultimate wildcard.
AJ Styles Takes Down Chad Gable (WWE Raw Results: June 9, 2025)
Chad Gable gave AJ Styles a tough fight, hitting him with a hard German suplex and a wild headbutt from the top rope, and Styles was dazed. Styles tried to end it with the Phenomenal Forearm, but Gable caught him and locked in the Ankle Lock. In the end, Styles managed to hit the Styles Clash and win.
Queen & King of the Ring Tournaments
- Queen of the Ring: Roxanne Perez outsmarted Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley, and Kairi Sane in a chaotic Fatal 4-Way. Despite briefly teaming with Morgan, Perez stole the pin on Sane after Morgan ate an Insane Elbow. Raquel Rodriguez cost Ripley the match, reigniting their smoldering rivalry.
- King of the Ring: Sami Zayn capitalized after LA Knight revenge-speared Bron Breakker (payback for MITB). Zayn pinned Dominik Mysterio with a Helluva Kick, advancing amidst looming threats from Karrion Kross.
Becky Lynch & Bayley Clash
Becky Lynch celebrated her new Women’s Intercontinental Championship Title, saying, “You deserve it,” and declared it “the biggest prize in the business.” Lyra Valkyria interrupted, prompting Bayley to attack Becky from behind, shocking fans and escalating their feud.
Ron Killings Returns as R‑Truth
In an emotional moment, Ron Killings stepped through the crowd and declared, “Don’t let anyone tell you that you don’t matter… I’m back – because of all of you.” His return sent the crowd into a frenzy.
“Don’t let nobody tell you that you don’t matter. Don’t let anybody tell you that your voice doesn’t matter. They heard, they listened, they felt, and they understood!”

Nikki Bella’s Return & Liv Morgan Attack
WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella received a hero’s welcome in Phoenix, a surprise return to announce a female-focused PLE, Evolution, hyping the division’s growth.
As Nikki praised talents like Ripley, Sky, Belair, and Vaquer, Liv Morgan stormed in, upset at not being included. Liv slammed Nikki with an Oblivion, shouting, “At least I was a champion, while Nikki was merely a reality show diva,” leaving the legendary Bella laid out.
Main Event — Gunther Reclaims the World Heavyweight Title
Jey Uso’s valiant World Heavyweight Championship run ended at 58 days as Gunther surgically dismantled the wounded warrior. Targeting ribs still battered from Money in the Bank, Gunther weathered Uso’s explosive comebacks, including a near-fall Uso Splash.
The climax saw both men lock in vicious sleeper holds, but Gunther’s relentless pressure forced Uso to fade into unconsciousness.
Key Quote: “The Ring General locked the Sleeper back on Uso, holding it until Uso faded… Gunther became a two-time World Heavyweight Champion.”
Uso’s vulnerability after non-stop battles cost him dearly. Gunther, fresher and more vicious, proved why Triple H views him as a cornerstone. Expect a wounded Uso to demand redemption, while Seth Rollins (lurking with the MITB briefcase) eyes fresh prey.
